Key positions that help us keep the community safe have been cut due to poor staffing by the Chief. This is one of many concerns in our "vote of NO CONFIDENCE" in our Chief and Assistant Chief.
After 100% survey participation, the results stated: 88% of members declared having NO CONFIDENCE in Chief Washburn. 82% have NO CONFIDENCE in Asst Chief Shaefer. No remedy short of their removal is acceptable. Our officers & community deserve better!
High turnover + staff shortages + vital positions are not being staffed = increased safety risks and negative financial impacts. We need accountability.

One of the many consequences the community and our officers are having to face as a result of poor leadership under our current administration.
All we are asking for is accountability with our leadership; the same level of accountability all of us are held to. The Mayor/Council refuses to address issues that negatively impact the department & community. Reach out. Speak up. We deserve better.
How are our employees supposed to protect and serve our community in addition to large scale events when we have lost over 40 employees and are severely short staffed? When will City of Indio council take notice and help?!
